Do you have an interest in the outdoors? Do you have a passion for nature? Do you want to experience real “hands-on” tasks of a forest technician? The Gaspé Campus understand this and uses the perfect laboratory for the Forest Technology program, a 280-lecture teaching forest. This program offers you an in-depth, pratical study of forest ecosystems and sustainable forest  management practices. You will study silviculture, conservation, supervision, inventory, research, protection, and reforestation as aspects of forest management.The forest technician generally works in the field. The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles will train you with courses given in the technician’s working environment: the forest.In this program, you will learn how to manage both private and public forests. Your training activities, in this regard, will often be remunerated.

Programme unique


• The College manages a teaching and research forest with a chalet which can be used as a classroom. This is a natural laboratory to put into practice the training received in the program;

• Courses given are based directly on the present needs of the job market;

• A transition program for those who have a related diploma or certificate;

• Forest Technology courses can be taken in either English or French throughout the three years of the program;

• At the beginning of the fifth semester there is a short period of on-the-job training;

• Forest Technology may be a transition program for university;

• Our strong points: GIS (Geographical Information Systems), integrated forest management, hands-on laboratories, professional and experienced teaching staff.
