Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles Adventure Tourism students present their salmon fishing research project «As the river flows»

Students enrolled in the second year of the Adventure Tourism program at the Gaspé Campus will present the results of their research on salmon fishing during Happy Hour at the Musée de la Gaspésie, on Wednesday, May 14, beginning at 5 pm.

The 34 Adventure Tourism students (17 from the French sector and 17 from the English sector) took part in this project, the final evaluation for their Adventure Tourism Geography course. The goal was to identify the potential of salmon fishing for geographical and cultural interpretation purposes. Their geography teacher, Stéphanie Harnois, chose salmon fishing as the theme for the project because this activity has been an essential element of tourism development in Gaspé since the 1850s and thus, the project examines a chapter in the history of Gaspé.

The public is invited to take part in this event, which will be held in the Musée de la Gaspésie foyer. It is important to point out that La Société de gestion des rivières de Gaspé and the Musée de la Gaspésie are partners in this project.
